Words are symbols and reveal and conceal meanings. Words are often sounds that are accompanied with emotions of joy, sadness, anger, certainty and uncertainty. As such, the sounds of the words often gain preeminence over their meaning. The meaning may be lost in the sound. For that reason, we should cultivate the art of listening. It good to hear sounds and discern meanings. Whether a child or an adult, our words may reveal or conceal our internal intent so we need to be listeners and hearers.
